Kurt Carlson, Director of the Georgetown Institute for Consumer Research
and Associate Professor of Marketing, McDonough School of Business
Professor Carlson teaches courses on Marketing Research, Consumer Behavior, and Marketing Management. He is also the director of the MSB Behavioral Research Lab. He received his BS and MS degrees from the University of Wisconsin and his PhD in Marketing from Cornell University. Prior to joining Georgetown, Dr. Carlson was on the faculty of the Fuqua School of business at Duke University from 2001-2009.
Professor Carlson has published extensively on the topic of the development of consumer preferences and the influence of the product formation process on decision making. Though much of his research explores consumer decision making, he also studies how voters, jurors, and managers make decisions. His research has been published in top marketing, psychology, and management journals. He is currently writing a book on “Contemporary Brand Management,” which will be published by Sage in 2013.
Ishani Banerji, Research Director
Ishani Banerji is the Research Director for the Georgetown Institute for Consumer Research. She earned her PhD in Social Psychology from the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University. She earned her MA in Psychology from Wake Forest University and BA in Psychology and Cinema from Denison University. She is responsible for coordinating the research projects conducted by the institute, mentoring the institute fellows, and conducting independent research on consumer behavior. She is primarily interested in how our cognition, emotions, and behavior are influenced by contextual factors.
Anab Garad, Assistant Director, Project Administration & Finance
Anab Garad is Assistant Director of Project Administration and Finance for the Georgetown Institute for Consumer Research. Anab is responsible for all finance, operations functions of the Georgetown Institute for Consumer Research. Anab also serves as support person for the marketing area faculty at the McDonough School of Business, where she assists faculty with course management. Anab earned a BA in English Literature from The Ohio State University, an MA in English Literature from Marymount University, and a Certification in Project Management from Georgetown.
Chris Hydock, Researcher
Chris Hydock is a Researcher with the Georgetown Institute for Consumer Research. He earned a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from the Psychology Department at George Washington University and BA in Psychology at the University of Colorado, Boulder. In addition to conducting research on consumer behavior, he is helping to further develop the behavioral research lab for the McDonough School of Business. In graduate school he worked to better understand components cognitive control, publishing his work in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance.
Iris Wang, Research Associate & Communications Coordinator
Iris Wang is a Research Associate and Communications Coordinator for the Georgetown Institute for Consumer Research.Iris Wang is the current Manager of Research Communications and a Research Associate for the Georgetown Institute for Consumer Research. In addition to conducting research on consumer behavior, Iris is responsible for all marketing functions of the Institute including website management and social media engagement. She also provides support for the Behavioral Research Lab and supervises undergraduate research assistants. Iris earned her BA in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Virginia. Recently she finished a year working in the Marketing Department at MIT Sloan School of Management.
